Foucalt's Pendulum and the Paris Pantheon

Gaze at an accurate replica of the pendulum that proved Earth is constantly rotating, and then explore the rest of the Pantheon.

Inside the beautiful and enormous Paris Pantheon is a replica of a very special and important piece of art and science: Foucault’s Pendulum. In 1851, the physicist Léon Foucault proved that the Earth in fact stayed in rotation at all times. The original pendulum is located at the Musée des Arts et Métiers, but a functional replica has been installed in the Pantheon for over 20 years. This masterpiece is worth a look, especially because it’s so important to modern science.
