La Promenade Plantée

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and stroll along the tree-lined Promenade Plantée.

If you’re looking for a relaxing time surrounded by nature in a city like Paris, La Promenade Plantée is the perfect spot to take a stroll and admire the flowers. Also called Coulée verte, the promenade starts at Opéra Bastille and continues for two miles along the old Vincennes railway line. This area was constructed by landscape architect Jacques Vergely and architect Philippe Mathieux, when they redesigned the whole area in the 1980s along with the opening of the opera nearby. Rising as a high-line above the city, this walkway provides stunning views of Paris and a quiet place to enjoy the beauty of the city.
