There’s a certain something in the air in spring and in Paris, as elsewhere spring is synonymous with renewal. The city’s events calendar is packed with exciting new things to do, as the city becomes abuzz with activity as the blossoms appear and the French sun starts to shine again.
Indulge in Easter
Whether you are a chocolate nut or simply like a good egg hunt, Paris is packed with Easter happenings. Join the hip families at Colette’s annual egg hunt in Palais Royal’s gardens or book a brunch at the Hotel Vendome for a chance to hunt Chocolat maestro Pierre Marcolini’s goodies. Want to bring something special home? Pack a ‘couture’ rabbit from the Maison Chaudun. Sophisticated and beautifully crafted, these handmade goodies will be the envy of all well heeled Parisians or stop by the Maison Nordique where you can pick up a different kind of egg: a chocolate caviar...
On 16th April la Villette will open its doors for the much-anticipated Bond exhibition. Paying homage to 50 years of Bond, the show will include 500 odd authentic Bond objects, including that famous Aston Martin, costumes, gadgets and all sorts of memorabilia. There’s even a chance to admire Roger Moore’s white DJ from his Octopussy days, and the Moonraker space suits... not to mention the Golden Gun and Jaws’ very own metal teeth...
Those who prefer all things equine will also be spoiled for choice. In March, from the 18th, the 7th edition of the Saut Hermès will take place at the Grand Palais for three days. A chic show jumping competition organised by the Hermès fashion house in the most iconic of locations! For something a little more exhilarating, don’t miss the two-day 138th Grand Steeple Chase event at the Auteuil Hippodrome on 21 and 22nd May. Thrilling, and at times terrifying, the race runs along a 6km track, with 23 obstacles, some calling for 8-metre-long jumps, and reaching 1.m90 high. Bound to take your breath away.
