Gourmets and lovers of fine things will feel right at home in the Hyatt Vendome’s swish dining room. Indulge at the overflowing buffet where starters range from healthy super-foods like kale and quinoa to naughty foie gras en croute or salmon rillettes. The mains, like soy-glazed beef, are ordered from the menu and accompanied by a welcome glass of Krug champagne. Better still, the sweet treats include beautiful petits fours, tasty tarts and even the decadent Breton butter-packed Kouing Amman pastry.

Without airs and graces, this cosy space created by pastry chef Benoît Castel (who trained with chef Helene Darroze) features big tables for low-key cosy breakfasts and brunches where one can sample charcuterie, roast chicken, pizzas, pasta salads, boiled eggs, quiches and sweet treats for €27, not to mention perfect basics: homemade bread and great coffee.

One of Paris’ newest addresses, Bul is run by Julie and Yousri, who imported their concept from Egypt. On the menu: refreshing sugar cane juice, gluten free bread and a selection of ‘balls’ including the Winter ‘Bul’ (polenta, comté cheese, chestnut and pumpkin). The perfect blend of healthy, cosy and funky. Don’t miss the homemade pear and chocolate cake.
