The fifth edition of Only Watch will take place on 28 September at Hotel Hermitage in Monaco, an ideal location because the Monaco Yacht Show, the world's premier showcase for superyachts, is also running at the same time. The event is an auction of 33 superb watches. 100% of the money raised will be donated to charity, and in particular to the fight against muscular dystrophy. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare auto-immune disease that affects one in every 3,500 male children: about 250,000 children, teenagers and young adults around the world.
Only Watch is promoted by Watchonista, which is running the Only Watch 2013 official page, with exclusive reviews, live pictures and (after 28 September) results from the auction room.
The watches toured the world before returning to Monaco where they will be auctioned. They were seen in Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and New York from August to September.
The watches donated to the cause include several pieces specifically for women, reflecting an important trend in the fine watch market. For example, Blancpain's 3300-3554L-55B is a beautiful diamond-set automatic watch. Chanel is participating with a one-off piece, the Première Flying Tourbillon, with a white gold, diamond-set case. Van Cleef & Arpels have donated Lady Arpels Une Journée à Monaco, a unique piece with decoration inspired by the city, and a diamond-set bezel.
But there are more men's watches, with some lovely pieces. Breguet, which has supported Only Watch since its launch in 2005, presents the lovely Classique Chronograph 5284, a very beautiful skeletonized movement. Jaquet Droz is participating with the Petite Heure Minute The Loving Butterfly, with personalized decoration.
