Leo Messi, Ambassador for Audemars Piguet is awarded the 2009-2010 Golden Shoe

Audemars Piguet is pleased to announce that the football player, Leo Messi has been awarded the 2009-2010 Golden Shoe (Bota de Oro) this past Thursday, for his brilliant career. With 34 goals scored on the 2009-2010 league championship, Messi an ambassador for Audermars Piguet since last May, takes his place amongst the greates players with this prize.

The Golden Shoe is a distinction that rewards individual soccer players. Since 1967 this annual trophy underlines the highest scorer in European soccer leagues. The trophy awarded by European sports Magazine has since the 1967/1968 season been represented by a golden shoe. Currently the classification is obtained by a weighted point system, which, depending on the league in which the player competes, is rewarded to a greater or lesser extent each goal scored. In the German, Spanish, French, English and Italian leagues goals are valued with the highest score which is of 2 points.
