From 12 April 2010, golfers will be able to enjoy a full round of championship night golf in the heart of Dubai, as the Faldo course becomes the only fully floodlit 18-hole course in the UAE. Open to public and members alike with highly competitive rates for 18 holes and 9 holes, the exciting news is a huge development for anyone with an interest in the game as Andrew Whitelaw, Club Manager, explained;
“Night golf has the potential to revolutionize the game within the UAE. Typically work constraints and limited tee-off times means securing a round on a quality course in Dubai is a constant challenge. But with night golf we hope to make golf more accessible and bring the enjoyment of the game to more people, especially in the summer months for those wishing to play in the cooler evenings. Whether you’re a serious amateur wanting to regularly play on a championship course or you’re simply after a social 9 holes with friends after work, Emirates Golf Club has created new opportunities to play 7 nights a week!”
Tee off times for 18 holes will be available up to 8pm each night, with tee times for 9 holes available until 10pm.
Emirates Golf Club's second championship golf course was opened in 1996 and was christened The 'Wadi', taken from the Arabic word for 'valley'. In 2005, The Wadi was redesigned by six-time major winner Nick Faldo and the new 'The Faldo' re-opened in October 2006. A par-73, the course has proved to be as popular as ever and lures players to the challenge of its 7,348 yards. Faldo’s trademark tees and bunkers have combined with the naturally rugged terrain to create a unique golfing experience. A natural wadi running the length of the course comes in to play without being classified as a hazard, ‘The Faldo’ has surpassed all of its expectations and is destined to be regarded as one of the finest courses in Dubai.
