Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, set to open in the second half of 2010, is the world’s first Ferrari theme park and the largest attraction of its kind. It will be an intense multi-sensory experience and an essential visit for enthusiasts, fans and families. The Park pays tribute to the passion, excellence, performance and technical innovation that Ferrari has established over the years and represents today. Its iconic sleek red roof is directly inspired by the classic double-curve side profile of the Ferrari GT body, spanning 200,000 square metres and carrying the largest Ferrari logo - 65 m x 48 m - ever created.
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will host a number of attractions for children of all ages, providing the complete Ferrari experience: over 20 state-of-the-art rides, each designed to bring a different part of the Ferrari story to life. There is the world’s fastest rollercoaster, travelling at speeds exceeding 200 km/h and emulating the thrilling sensation of being in a Ferrari F1 car. The G-force experience takes passengers on an adrenaline-pumping ride up to over 62 m, through the roof and back down again. Those with a competitive streak will be able to try their luck on the dueling rollercoaster, where two Ferrari Spider-styled rollercoaster carriages will battle for dominance on the track. Other attractions include state-of-the-art racing simulators, similar to those used by the Ferrari racing team, and driving and racing schools for junior drivers. Children of all ages will enjoy complete involvement in the Ferrari experience at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. Junior Scuderia drivers (aged approximately 7-12) will be able to enroll in the Ferrari Academy where they will learn expert racing techniques in a child-safe model 430 GT Spider before earning their driving license and tackling the hairpin turns of the racecourse in a miniature Ferrari F1 racer. Toddlers and infants can pilot remote control cars and operate the waterless carwash in the children’s soft play area.
There will also be a wide variety of Italian delicacies, with two restaurants inspired by Maranello food, and a traditional Italian delicatessen, serving customised fresh pasta and pizza, as well as international dishes.
As for shopping, there will be an 825 square metre store celebrating Ferrari's history, with vintage and contemporary racing memorabilia. At "interactive corners," children can customise their own park souvenirs.
The Park is located on Yas Island - set to become a global tourist destination with a wide range of accommodation and entertainment facilities - on the North East side of Abu Dhabi’s mainland. Abu Dhabi, at the crossroads between Europe, Asia and Africa, was chosen as the ideal location to build the Ferrari theme park, motor sports being extremely popular in the United Arab Emirates. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will offer enthusiasts, fans and families the opportunity to experience Ferrari in a unique and intensely fun way. The theme park is in fact adjacent to the Yas Marina Circuit, which hosted the inaugural 2009 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The development was designed by Jack Rouse Associates, and it is being constructed by famous contractors Benoy. The building is 50 metres high, providing 86,000 square metres of enclose space.
The project dates back to April 2007, when Aldar Properties PJSC, Abu Dhabi’s leading property development, management and Investment Company, announced the signing of an exclusive contract with Ferrari to construct the Ferrari Theme Park on Aldar’s Yas Island project. The agreement between these two pioneering industry leaders reflects the unique foresight and deep rooted relationship that, through this exciting new park, will meet a significant entertainment and leisure need for fans and families in the UAE and Middle East.
Farah Leisure Parks Management L.L.C, a joint venture between Aldar Properties PJSC and ProFun Management Group Inc. (international leisure facilities management and operating company) will be responsible for managing and operating Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. Ferrari’s key principles of excellence and performance in the context of technological innovation will underpin every aspect of the project.
