Alessandro Sciaraffa exhibits Akasha at Cardi Black Box, Milan. This high-tech artwork presents a total sensorial experience combining sound and visual suggestions, changing with variations in environmental conditions, the presence of people, water vapour and touch. The installation consists of a wall covered by panels of liquid crystal, with two spray units in front of the wall that at random intervals spray droplets of water onto the panels, and two heating elements. The stimuli represented by heat and water transform the panels by changing the state of the liquid crystal, which becomes plasma and creates differing colours. At the same time, a dodecahedron emits sounds that vary according to visitor interaction, perceived by means of long-wave radio waves. As a result, visitors can touch the liquid crystal walls, leaving evanescent signs of their presence, and "hear" the presence of the installation by means of the sound produced.

The piece is part of the show "The Art of Camo," featuring the artists Saadane Afif, avaf, Pierre Bismuth, Alighiero Boetti, Henri Chopin, Daniel Gustav Cramer, Matthew Darbyshire, Loredana Di Lillo, Flavio Favelli, Lucio Fontana, Ryan Gander, Jan Peter Hammer, Keith Haring, Armin Linke, Piero Manzoni, Alek O., Giuseppe Penone, Salvatore Scarpitta, Collier Schorr, Andy Warhol, Sue Williams and Richard Woods, at Cardi Black Box from 14 December 2010 to 13 February 2011.
