Galeries Lafayette has just announced that it is in advanced negotiations to take over the lease of the store located on 52, avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, previously occupied by a Virgin Megastore. It is set to become the new flagship model for the Galeries Lafayette, alongside the historic store on Boulevard Haussmann. The store spans over 9,000 metres and shoppers will be pleased to know that it is one of the biggest retail spaces on the Champs-Élysées. The lease is due to be signed at the end of the year.
And in addition to its unique location, the Galeries Lafayette will not face any opposition in opening on Sundays even though the discussions continue for Boulevard Haussmann. So shoppers will definitely have a lot more time to shop on a weekend getaway.
Meanwhile, the Eiffel Tower, which has long been associated with romance and fantasy, has just undergone a 38.4 million dollar renovation and is now the number one attraction for adventurous souls wishing to experience the wonderful sensation of walking through air. The first floor of the tower has recently been fitted with a glass floor and is at a vertiginous height of nearly 200 feet above the ground. Perfect for visitors who don't have time to reach the top of the tower.
