London is looking forward to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, which will culminate in an extended weekend on 2, 3, 4 and 5 June 2012. Harrods will also be celebrating, with an exhibition of ballgowns and crowns created by leading designers.
The pop-up designer ballgown boutique will be open at Harrods from 15 May until 15 June 2012, a tribute to the Victoria & Albert Museum's exhibition Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950. The Harrods boutique will display gowns by Valentino, Roberto Cavalli, Nina Ricci, Carolina Herrera, J. Mendel, Jenny Packham, Elie Saab and Ralph & Russo. The gowns will be disoplayed in some of the Brompton Road windows. If you would like to buy one, you can visit The Penthouse, wich is Harrods' exclusive personal shopping space on the fifth floor.
The crowns exhibition will also be featured in some of the Brompton Road windows. These specially-commissioned display crowns are all based on a replica of the St. Edwards coronation crown. They were made by 32 brands, all of which are available at Harrods, amongst which Tiffany & Co., De Beers, Lanvin, Jo Malone, Mulberry, Boucheron, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Paul Smith, Fabergé and Shu Uemura. This show will also run from 15 May to 15 June.
