As commercial as celebrating Valentine’s Day has become, it provides a great excuse to dress up and spend quality time with your special one. At LUXOS, we are all about discovering the latest and most exclusive restaurants but today, we want to shake things up for you.

Huw Prichard, wine expert for the last 30 years, spills the beans on the perfect food & champagne pairing to impress, and seduce, with an exclusive Valentine’s menu.

Champagne Bruno Paillard Rosé Première Cuvée

Why we love it:
Fine delicate salmon colour, delicate taste and wonderfully refreshing

Tasting Notes:
Earning its name from the use of only the first pressing, it is a testament to the delicacy of Pinot Noir as a blend of white and red wines with a hint of Chardonnay. Maturity lends this wine a fine salmon pink colour and a fine perlage. Wild strawberries, apricot and orange zest, medium bodied with an enduring finish.

Champagne de Telmont Grand Couronnement 2002

Why we love it:
Beautiful in the mouth with wonderful length to sustain the enjoyment

Tasting Notes:
A fine expression of a Champagne made exclusively with Chardonnay, using grapes that have been selected from the Cotes des Blancs Grand Cru villages and matured for a minimum of 10 years. Fine floral notes present the nose with hints of apricot and buttery brioche, followed by hints of wood with a long and rich finish.

Enjoy with:
A slow poached egg with white Alba truffles

Ferrari Perlé Nero exuberant 2008

Why we love it:
A special vintage Blanc de Noir that is sumptuous and displays wonderful tanginess and citrus notes

Tasting Notes:
A noble spumante made from Pinot Noir grapes and matured for six years in the bottle on the lees, allowing it to absorb the delicate brioche notes of the yeast. Complex and well-balanced, this spumante delights the palate with elegant creaminess, a fine sparkling perlage and plenty of freshness.

Enjoy with:
Unagi no Kabayaki (eel that has been filetted, deboned, skewered, grilled and then brushed with a special sauce) for its, dare we say it, stamina-imparting qualities


Champagne Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2009

Why we love it:
A welcoming and inviting Champagne that readily envelopes you in its arms, a true expression of love

Tasting Notes:
Already surprisingly well developed in the nose, this wine reminds us of the famous Calisson confectionary of Aix-en-Provence, before darker aromas of roasted sesame, almonds and even mocha take over. A subtle hint of fragrant rose petals completes the overall picture. First impression on the palate: inviting, full-bodied and incredibly soft.

Champagne Billecart Salmon Cuvée Elisabeth Brut Rosé Millésime 2006

Why we love it:
Rich, elegant and a fine testament to the house founder

Tasting Notes:
A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, one is always aware of the red wine elements – on the nose, red berries and citrus elements evolve into white peach enhanced by marzipan. On the palate, pit fruit flavours are wrapped in fine notes of cedar and wild fennel.

Reichsrat von Buhl Rose Prestige 2013

Why we love it:
Heavenly bubbles to carry you away on a cloud of contentment

Tasting Notes:
It is simply amazing what cellar master Mathieu Kauffmann (formerly Bollinger) has achieved in just a few years since he started at the Pfälzer von Buhl vineyards. The premier vintage 2013 (100% Pinot Noir) shows wonderful juiciness, an intense brioche aroma as well as an ultrafine perlage. Perhaps the best German Rose Sekt to date.
