Why you should invest in the best haute jewellery

Finding the rarest of stones is one of the main principles Turkish jewellery maison, Gilan, lives by.

The perfect jewellery is an investment that brings together rare gemstones, colours and forms through design and perfect craftsmanship. Having achieved the utmost quality in these both aspects, Gilan picks its gemstones in their purest form in nature. The maison's gemstone experts with over 20 years of experience in the field practically live in airplanes and travel over 150.000 miles every year to find the highest quality stones. It might take years for them to find the perfect match for a rare 20-carat emerald that will turn into a couple of earrings.

One of the reasons why it's so difficult to find the right stone is that when it comes to colourful gems, even certificates don't always lower the risk of authenticity. If you are buying a piece adorned with colourful jewels, make sure you check its certificate to see if the stones have been treated in any way. For instance, if the certificate for sapphire says H(Be) instead of H(B) in the Treatment field, then the stone becomes synthetically altered, taking down its value 5 to 10 fold.

Gilan never uses gemstones that have been synthetically treated. They design all their pieces with the highest quality in colours and transparency for emeralds, sapphires and rubies. For emeralds, they prefer only the Colombian and Zambian mines. For sapphire, they always go for Sri Lankan, Burmese and occasionally Madagascar stones. All these details are crucial to the perfectionist streak in Gilan's vision to provide you with the most precious stones that will preserve their value for generations to come.
