Nature's exquisite beauty is celebrated with signature collections from the haute joaillerie maisons

by 27 April 2011

Nothing embodies the exquisite movement, colour and vitality of nature as jewellery does. The world’s most iconic houses aim for the stars with signature collections paying homage to the miracles of nature with spirit, excellence and flair. Exhibiting technical ambition alongside unprecedented design brilliance, from Piaget’s breathtaking Garden Party to Chaumet’s queen bees, travellers in love with the spirit of summer will be awestruck by the most revered haute joaillerie maisons’ signature collections inspired by the birds, the bees, the outdoors and the diamonds, of course.

The garden party is the signature summer soiree, and Piaget’s celebration of the season will take you into a glittering world where diamond garlands, exotic birds and glimmering foliage entice you into a magical wonderland. Chalcedony cherry blossoms bloom spontaneously on diamond and pearl studded branches, pearls sway gently from hoop earrings: Piaget’s creativity has no limits in its last collection Limelight Garden Party.

For its remarkable high jewellery collection ‘Plumes de Chanel,’ Chanel draws inspiration from a feather-shaped brooch from the ‘Bijoux de Diamants’ range launched in 1932 by Mademoiselle Chanel. The 35 pieces in the new collection took 14 months to conceive and design, including not only this iconic brooch, but also highly versatile, diamond articulated and set feather necklaces and brooches.

The captivating ‘Bee My Love’ collection incorporates 30 pieces of the supreme bee – the emblem of Napoleon I and haute joaillerie maison Chaumet. Intricate hexagonal honeycomb shapes are lit up by precious blue lagoon Paraiba tourmalines, heightened by blue sapphires, diamonds and tsavorite garnets, as the diamond-lined bees are accented by honey-coloured yellow and orange sapphires, red spinels and deep pink sapphires. Mirroring the regal bee’s extraordinary ability to metamorphose, tiaras become brooches and necklaces transform into pendant earrings.
