Luxury gold jewelry in signature collections by the world's finest maisons

by 27 April 2011

The world’s most iconic jewellery houses unveil signature collections epitomizing their creators’ inspirations and obsessions with excellence and flair. Exhibiting precision ambition, exquisite technical mastery and unprecedented design brilliance, from the revived Plumes de Chanel collection to Paloma Picasso’s 30th anniversary creations, travellers with a thirst for excellence this season will be awestruck by some of the most exquisite jewellery design the world has ever seen.

Tiffany & Co.’s enduring signatures of elegance and design brilliance have led to collaborations with some of the keenest eyes in the world, from Pritzker architect Frank Gehry to Elsa Peretti. Paloma Picasso celebrated 30 years of exclusive designs for the maison with three new collections – including Marrakesh, embodying the seductive intricacies of Islamic grid patterns in smouldering jasper, chic onyx, intense lapis lazuli and vivid nephrite held in lattices of brightly-polished 18k gold for medallions, cuffs and pendant earrings. Each Paloma Picasso design is a treasured work of art.

“In my profession, any means is legitimate, provided it is only used in the true spirit of fashion.” The ultimate marriage of modern and vintage – both immediately iconic and highly personal, Chanel revives the ‘Bijoux de Diamants’ collection launched in 1932 by Mademoiselle Chanel. The 35 pieces in the remarkable ‘Plumes de Chanel’ took 14 months to conceive and envelop highly versatile diamond articulated and set feather necklaces and brooches including one oversized recreation that can also be worn as a diadem or shoulderpiece, with ultra-elegant earrings and rings to pair.

“Excelling ourselves is Van Cleef & Arpels’ raison d’être,” says Stanislas de Quercize, President of the celebrated Haute Joaillerie Maison. The books of Jules Verne provided the inspiration for Les Voyages Extraordinaires, for which Van Cleef and Arpels’ young Talents and Mains d’Or cultivated the perfect marriage between poetry, myth and magic, the extraordinary palette of nature and the sparkling canopy of the sky. Prices for these once-in-a- lifetime pieces reach to $3 million per piece.
