Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard, hosted an extravagant celebration at The Frick Collection to commemorate Chopard’s 150th anniversary. Film stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Christina Ricci and Claire Danes toasted the occasion along with luminaries such as Georgina Chapman, Natalie Cole, Eugenia Silva, Miguel Fabregas, Alexandra Richards and Lauren Remington Platt. The Frick Collection was selected for this special evening as Gruosi-Scheufele felt it was important to debut the jewelry in a museum setting, to emphasize that each piece of the Animal World collection is a true work of art. As guests entered The Frick Collection they were led down a green carpet to accentuate the celebration’s nature theme.
The night began with a sophisticated cocktail soirée where guests were treated to the international debut of Animal World, an exclusive one-of-a-kind collection of 150 amazing haute joaillerie pieces inspired by Gruosi-Scheufele’s innate passion for travel and animals. The collection featured a dazzling array of creatures from nature and fantasy ranging from swimming sardines and fruit-snatching monkeys to frog princes and baby-carrying storks. Showcasing an incredible diversity of stones and jewels, the collection was a testament to Chopard’s expertise in jewelry craftsmanship. Animal World marks the largest collection any jewelry house has ever devoted to a single theme. Gruosi-Scheufele dreamed of the idea one night while anticipating Chopard’s 150th birthday and spent over two years developing the collection with some pieces requiring over ten days to create.
Following the special viewing of Animal World, guests were seated in the Garden Court to imaginatively set tables named after geographic wonders such as the Serengeti, Himalayas and Great Barrier Reefs. For the guest’s viewing pleasure, five models outfitted in luxurious dresses by Marchesa strolled about The Frick Collection wearing pieces from Animal World which allowed the guests to view the beautifully sculptured quality of the jewelry. After dinner, guests entered The Frick Collection’s ornately designed Music Room to enjoy a performance by Grammy® award-winning artist John Legend, who rocked the party with a selection of new songs and his greatest hits. The excitement continued with a dance party to music spun by one of New York City’s hottest DJs, Mia Moretti. To cap off the evening, electric violinist Caitlin Moe wowed the audience with a stunning and unique performance that left revelers abuzz as they departed for the evening, chattering about the incredible fete celebrating Chopard’s 150th anniversary.
