Very black and white, this Sergio Rossi collection, and even though there are some links with the women's collections – such as the ample use of openwork to reveal what's underneath – it is described by the brand as very masculine and 1950s.
The shoes designed by Angelo Ruggeri, Collections and Design Director, evoke sharp-dressing streetwise personalities, with the dominant black, white and night blue creating contrast and drama. Detailing is meticulous, such as the brass plate with the brand name affixed under the white soles. A model with white canvas uppers is embroidered with black thread.
One of the most curious models is an evening model in patent leather and kid, with a sock suspender above the ankle.
Another pattern that hallmarks the season is the monkstrap style, which effectively eliminates the tongue and highlights the see-through effect.
Sneakers are in a new style, with a bit of crossover from women: soles have the brand's characteristic mermaid pattern (fish scales). One pattern used for the uppers is based on Matisse's paintings of leaves.
