The Metropolitan Museum's retrospective exhibition of Alexander McQueen's work, that was displayed in New York in 2011 is coming to London in 2015. The Victoria & Albert will host the Savage Beauty exhibition from March 14 to July 19 2015.
The Savage Beauty show was one of the most popular shows in the history of New York’s Met, attracting more than 660,000 visitors in 2011, and the Met's top ten most visited shows that includes the time the Mona Lisa went on display in Manhattan in 1963, a Treasures of Tutankhamun show in 1978 and Picasso exhibition in 2010.
The collection will cover McQueen’s career from his 1992 MA graduate show to his unfinished autumn/winter 2010 collection. The V&A's version of the show is being curated by Claire Wilcox, the museum's senior fashion curator and the displays redesigned by Sam Gainsbury. It will also be bigger than the Met's original. Andrew Bolton, who worked on the New York exhibition, will act as consultant curator.
