Schiaparelli - Paris reboot Featured

A first look inside the new Place Vendôme couture salon

PARIS - Nearly 60 years since Elsa Schiaparelli closed down her business, it is more sure than ever that the late designer's eponymous brand will officially live on. Acquiring the Schiaparelli label in 2006, Tod's Group has been working steadily up to the very moment when they could unveil the new Paris headquarters, which occupies three floors of number 21, Place Vendôme - the same building where Schiaparelli's original couture house was housed.

The mirrored dining room features chairs designed by Giò Ponti

The new Schiaparelli couture salon was baptized over the weekend with a cocktail presided over by brand spokeswoman Farida Khelfa, muse and collaborator to the likes of Azzedine Alaïa and Jean Paul Gaultier. The sumptuous interiors are outfitted with pale-coloured Forties furniture which includes a satin sky blue sofa, lobster-shaped drawers designer by Vincent Darré, a sphinx sculpture that originallly belonged to Schiaparelli and a mirrored dining room.

The guest list was nothing short of stellar with actress Sharon Stone, Dior Fine Jewellery designer Victoire de Castellane and Tod's Group CEO Diego Della Valle on hand. As of yet, Schiaparelli has not named a Creative Director, but its first ready-to-wear show is expected to debut in January. With both Gaultier and Ackerman in attendance, might a joint collaboration be in the works? Only time will tell..
