An exciting limited edition collection is on the horizon for Louis Vuitton as the maison teams up with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama for a special collaboration. Kusama is revered in the art world for her signature dots which have hallmarked her long career. Louis Vuitton will launch the collection in July, two days ahead of the opening of a retrospective on the artist at the Whitney Museum in New York.

A look from Louis Vuitton's new Yayoi Kusama collection

The relationship between Kusama and Louis Vuitton began in 2006, when Creative Director Marc Jacobs visited the artist in her Tokyo studio. To his delight, she presented him with a Louis Vuitton Ellipse bag which she had painted over with dots. “In a fascinating way, the monogram canvas is as obsessional as Yayoi’s dots,” remarked Louis Vuitton president and CEO Yves Carcelle. He also shared that the collection will be available in limited quantities - making the items true collector's pieces that us fashionistas will still get excited over for years to come - ingenious.
