What comes to mind when you think about Spain and fashion? Any particular labels? Over the past few years Spanish designers have been hard at work and their latest collections have certainly turned heads. Twice a year, designers unleash their creativity during Madrid’s Fashion Week at Cibeles, which is attracting crowds and is battling for a position among the world’s fashion capitals. Here are some of our picks for this season.
Juan Duyos’ lavish designs swayed down the runways this past September. His creations were minimalist yet refined. Though the collection features a variety of colours, most garments were in a single hue, made with luscious fabrics such as silk crepe, satin and muslin. Match these elegant dresses with oversized hats and unique shades from the runway show.
This extravagant combination of different textures could also be seen in the work of designers like Kina Fernández. Fernández takes us on a journey to the Orient combining new fabrics, weaves and colours with her unique vision. The result? Exquisite options for summertime soirées as well as ideal workplace attire.
Style in the workplace

It may have started off as a man’s world at work, but things have certainly changed. Ángel Schlesser proposes very feminine fashions perfect for the workplace. Schlesser proposes elegant silhouettes with contrasting tones that are above all practical and functional. We saw knee-length skirts, wide-leg trousers and jackets in many styles and shades. We also recommend a look at Schlesser's stunning formalwear.
Roberto Verino continues to amaze with his effortlessly elegant designs. This season, we saw neutral tones for both men and women, though we did see more floral elements for women, enhanced by his signature craftsmanship. Accessories featured oversized handbags, weekend bags and highly decorative trolleys. As the great weather sets in, so does your holiday schedule. Pack your bags: after all, this is the perfect season to travel!
As the beach is the number one summer destination; our top selection would not be complete without Andrés Sardà. Known for his exquisite lingerie and swimwear collections, this year marks a major step in the brand’s history as it celebrates its golden anniversary. Currently under the creative direction of Sardà’s daughter Nuria, this season brings a splash of colour fit for any Olympian goddess vacationing along the Mediterranean.
Let your wardrobe blossom with the new hues of the season in pieces from Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. Her new collection is bursting with bright tones and impeccable details, such as heart appliqués and juxtaposed stripes in different fabrics. Complete your look, whether sporty with jeans and brightly coloured layered T-shirts, or retro-inspired dresses in vibrant plaid or heart designs.
This season Adolfo Domínguez takes linen to a whole new level with elegant 1950s-inspired attire perfect for weekends out of town. Colours include earth tones mixed with pastels and dark blues. We also saw elegant pleated skirts, with asymmetrical tops. For men, Domínguez opted for straight-cut trousers, bermudas, wide collars and horizontal stripes.
Totón Comella and Josep María Donat have given casual looks a feminine twist at TCN. The Barcelona-based label has looked to the past for inspiration with retro prints and bold colours. Combine cotton tops with silk cardigans, plus a pair of high heels with bright socks, and one of the many bags from the new collection – they’re perfect for a day at the beach!
