A revamped Milan flagship, a new capsule collection, womenswear, accessories and much more

The legendary fashion headquarters of the Valentino Maison are housed within a palazzo in Piazza Mignanelli, Rome. At the helm of creative direction since 2008, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have united a contemporary style with the iconic glamour associated with the Valentino legacy. Under their reign we have seen design and an artisanal savoir-faire come together for the launch of appealing new womenswear and menswear lines, along with a wide range of accessories. The latest spring/summer styles from Valentino are now in store in their recently renovated flagship situated at the heart of Milan’s high fashion shopping district, known as the ‘Golden Quadrilateral.’


With sophistication and impeccable savoir faire, the creative direction duo have designed a lovely and sensual new womenswear collection for spring/summer 2012. Sharp and evanescent silhouettes, variations on the theme of transparency and the finest materials give life to these ethereal gowns enriched with embroidery, delicate appliques, macramé and lace, all made with meticulous hand-crafted care. The season’s accessories include flat sandals, netted booties, animal print-inspired jewellery, and bags and belts hallmarked by the brand’s signature Rockstud metal studs.



Another exciting project from maison Valentino this season is Timestrings, an exclusive women’s shoe collection. A tribute to the maison’s savoir-faire, ten unique shoe styles feature reinterpreted signature elements of the maison such as lace, flowers, crystals and bows. Handwritten on the inside of each pair is a unique sequence of numbers indicating the overall production time dedicated to making them. The ultimate collector piece for any Valentino devotee.


Valentino have also unveiled a wide range of accessories and fashions for men, now sold in their renovated boutique on Via Montenapoleone. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli describe their man as a sort of ‘fast-forward Mastroianni,’ possessing a refined style that is both agile and self-aware. The spring/summer 2012 menswear collection fuses sartorial pieces with a sportswear appeal, giving birth to a new style in which precious materials are used in a new dynamic way. Fitted jackets and slim-fit trousers in Japanese dry cotton lend a sartorial basis to more relaxed and softer safari jackets and denim pieces. Ultra-light nylon makes the classic suit compact and easy to wear. Accessories such as the monogrammed line canvas bags with the V logo create a sharp, distinctive look for a streetwise appeal.


The Maison recently inaugurated its renovated flagship boutique ocated at the prestigious address of Via Montenapoleone, 20, in Milan. Heritage and style meet here in a new concept that embraces the brand’s future. Designed by architect David Chipperfield, the flagship boutique’s character is defined by the palazzo's period style and the differing atmospheres of its interiors. Each of the rooms feature a different collection and design style. Frosted mirrors, a sumptuous wooden staircase, grey Venetian terrazzo and warm lighting make a visit to the boutique a must-see for both fashion and architecture connoisseurs.
