It all started with a dream to produce and supply the best fabrics to renowned fashion design houses. That dream lead to the birth of Italian brand Agnona, founded in 1953 by Francesco Ilorini Mo. Agnona first came on the scene supplying materials to couture houses like Dior, Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent. Soon after followed the creation of an in-house design team at Agnona which has since made the brand a leader in luxury ready to wear for more than 60 years. The brand was acquired by the Ermenegildo Zegna Group in the 1990's, thus pairing the luxury womenswear line with its masculine counterpart to make an irresistible duo.
Agnona's Fall/Winter 2011-2012 season is a visual history lesson on the brand's legacy. The collection takes things back to the company's 1950's origins with a tribute to a garment's comfort and simplicity. Next season's Agnona woman is timelessly elegant and feminine whether she's out and about town running errands, relaxing at home or meeting the girls for a late lunch.
The new outwear line from Agnona is all about the infusing the feminine spirit into comfortable outwear. The creative design team has used only the best fabrics from Agnona's own precious cashmere and alpaca mixes in the collection. Unmissable items include the White Cashmere Duvet coat, knitwear designed in unique patterns and vivid colours and hand-knit turtlenecks and sweaters in white cashmere yarn. Other luxury materials besides cashmere associated with the Agnona brand include alpaca, camel-hair and extra-fine wool. It makes our heads spin just thinking about the lengths Agnona goes to produce these high-quality fabrics and the extensive work and care that go into making each piece (some items take up to 12 hours!) We appreciated the back to basics feel of garments left with the natural white fabric colours, as well as the loungewear in neutral greys.
Agnona's Brown Collection is centred around the principles of fine tailoring and structured fabrics, giving the utmost care to detail. The line is decidedly more contemporary chic. Highlights from the collection include 50's style knee length dresses, rich orange coats and 100% cashmere capes to keep theAgnona woman warm while she channels a modern day Jackie O look.
Cashmere accessories and leather handbags make for practical and fundamental accessories. Agnona's new Bonnie Ball bag with pleated leather strips is inspired by a piece from the brand's iconic archive. The scarves have been designed using new processing techniques and are entirely woven by high-tech looms into various forms. Sixties style necklaces with leather loops are great for topping off a casual ensemble. Agnona accessories make for a thoughtful and tasteful gift for anyone. You can't go wrong with cashmere scarves, hats and gloves available in different colours or an adorable cashmere teddy bear (our personal favourite!)
This season, Agnona lets you coordinate your home collection with your wardrobe with a variety of blankets and throws in cashmere, as well as bed sheets and plush slippers. You'll have the ultimate Italian luxe experience with Agnona, both indoors and out.
