Picture this, it’s a cool, brisk evening, you’re walking down one of Milan’s most hectic streets and it’s rush hour. Horns are sounding, scooters are whizzing by and loud music is blaring from inside the nearby shops. You turn a corner and walk down a residential street, the noise from before begins to dull out and as you turn the next corner you see a lit up estate peeking from behind a great wall.
As you approach the gate you find an Italian Villa awaiting filled with stylish and comfortable loafers, leather and alligator skin handbags and trunks filled with only the best luxury outwear has to offer. Welcome to the world of Tod’s and its incredible new Fall/Winter 2011-12 line. The evening’s presentation showcased the collection in a way that only an Italian luxury brand can do. Walking through the opulent hallways and salons we discovered the collection piece by piece.
Starting outside in a glass gazebo were the iconic D-Bag Luxury handbags done in hide material and lined in leather. Tod’s classic D-bag is created using the highest level of craftsmanship. The bag is soft to touch and finished in a contemporary silhouette. Inspiration for the D-bag design came from the late architect, Philip Johnson who was renowned for his method of working with glass and steel to create design masterpieces such as his 1949 Glass House.
Highlights from the new collection include ankle boots done in brushed calfskin with buckles and a 10cm heel. The season’s new shoulder bag is offered in various sizes and materials including leather, suede and precious alligator all featuring a metallic buckle closure. Footwear is always at the top of our list for Tod’s where the brand stayed true to its comfortable and stylish loafers and ballet flats. Tod’s new Specialists by Specialists collection includes new Motor Boot pieces designed with simple clean lines for a sophisticated look.
