Gucci Fall/Winter 2011-2012 women's collection Featured

A report from the Milan runway fashion shows

First day of fashion week Milan, and kicking off the afternoon shows, Gucci was an explosion of colours with high impact.

Starting with the daytime looks we found the skirts and pant legs wide, whilst every waist was synched with a classic belt. The waists became the main focus of our attention with high necklines, cut-outs and long necklaces. On the topic of accessories, also in mostly bright colours, handbags were in snakeskin and some models even sported two at a time down the catwalk. Faces were hidden under large hats with contrasting band and feather details and behind square framed sunglasses, which came in a range of different shades. Fabrics were thick, sometimes with sheen. The gorgeous thick fur coats and gilets were of noteworthy mention, however again, always synched by a thin belt worn over the top.

The evening looks oozed femininity with soft sheer fabrics that perfectly framed the female form and moved in a way that made the models look as though they were gliding down the catwalk. High slits on the leg, either one or both, brought sexiness to the collection, as did the visible hot pants and plunging backs. Where skin was bared, it was subtle enough that the collection remained elegant. A touch of floral featured in the latter of the evening looks, our absolute favourite being a soft black dress with red orange petals. adorning the décolletage.
