Upholding the Boss Black tendency for creating clothes that exude a strong sense of casual refinement, the Spring/Summer 2011 collection is a lesson in modern elegance. Inspired by the carefree, summery silhouettes of beachside living in Sydney, the clothes are a little Bohemian, a lot sophisticated and perfectly effortless. The color palette includes a range of browns, beiges, and whites that are highlighted by a soft, dusty rose, delicate light blue and stunning navy. My favorite piece in the collection is definitely the floor length ‘Dinerella’ dress in cobalt blue, with a unique, billowing silhouette, empire waist, and voluminous sleeves.
In fact, most of the collection could be described as flowing and billowing, with fabrics like silk, cotton, linen, and viscose dominating the collection. Another collection favorite was the range of trousers, defined by relaxed, slouchy cuts that still manage to retain a chic, structured look. The relaxed silhouettes of the collection are wonderfully complemented by the accessories collection that includes flat sandals and slouchy hobo bags, while the chunky jewelry adds a bit of textural contrast.
