There were a lot of celebrities at the 63rd film festival, and a lot of press photo occasions featuring top names in fashion. We have compiled a “Luxos Top Ten” of the celebrities and above all what they were wearing.
1. Salma Hayek in Gucci
Gucci dressed Salma Hayek for the opening night of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival as well as for the screening of Robin Hood. Salma Hayek sizzled in the first ever couture gown from the Gucci Premiere collection, designed by the brand’s creative director Frida Giannini. The actress chose a full-length, asymmetrical, bordeaux coloured dress in draped crepe de chine which was embroidered with crystals. To complete the look she opted for a pair of heels accessorized with a black satin clutch bag.
2. Naomi Watts in Gucci
Naomi Watts dazzled on the red carpet in a pale pink chiffon bustier dress embroidered with silver sequins from the Gucci Premiere Collection at the premiere of Woody Allen’s latest film You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger in which she plays one of the lead roles.
3. Kate Beckinsale in Armani Privé
English rose Kate Beckinsale accessorized her shimmering silver Armani Privé frock with Chopard jewellery and Sergio Rossi shoes at amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala at the Hotel du Cap.
4. Kristin Scott Thomas in Armani Privé
Maîtresse de Ceremony, Kristin Scott Thomas opted for a sequined, mermaid-style gown by Armani Privé from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection for the Cannes opening-night ceremony.
5. Michelle Yeoh in Roberto Cavalli Couture
Oriental beauty Michelle Yeoh was the picture of elegance in this frothy, lemon-coloured creation from Roberto Cavalli’s couture collection at the premiere of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
6. Eva Longoria in Emilio Pucci
Eva Longoria owned the red carpet at the Robin Hood premiere in this white, tiered Emilio Pucci silk-chiffon gown from the designer’s couture collection which featured a magnificent train.
7. Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen
Cate Blanchett paid tribute to the late British designer Alexander McQueen at the Robin Hood premiere in a design from his Pre- Fall 2010 collection. The actress, who plays Maid Marion, looked regal in the black and silver-embroidered tulle gown with a distinctive eagle motif.
8. Fan Bing Bing in Elie Saab
Chinese actress Fan Bing Bing looked magical in this peach coloured Elie Saab gown from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2009 couture collection at the Chongqing Blues premiere.
9. Naomi Campbell in Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci
Supermodel Naomi Campbell turned heads on the red carpet in a 2008 sheer black Givenchy number designed by the brand’s creative director Riccardo Tisci, accessorized with de Grisogono jewellery and billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Dorinin.
