Navy, cobalt, iris. Poppy red, raspberry, mandarin orange. Escada Cruise Collection 2010 is a blossoming of beautiful colours. Inspired by the all-time favourite film “Roman Holiday”, the collection combines charming femininity and naïve sensuality, much like the character that Audrey Hepburn memorably interpreted in the film. Daytime pieces such as suits and one-piece dresses are perfect on a beautiful day in Rome, walking through Via Appia and flower markets. By night, the Escada woman shines in sumptuous gowns fitting for a modern-day princess.
Indeed, glamour and Escada are inextricable. Like many beautiful things, it all started with a love story when Margaretha Ley, a stunning Swedish top model, met the businessman Wolfgang Ley. This union marked the birth of one of the most important fashion brands. Together they established the house of ESCADA in 1978.
Over the years, supermodels such as Nadja Auermann, Linda Evangelista, Karen Mulder and Claudia Schiffer interpreted the world of Escada in its advertising campaigns and luxurious catalogues. For its Autumn/Winter 2009 campaign, Escada brought together supermodel Eva Herzigova and renowned photographer Peter Lindbergh. The result is elegant, strong and sensual images that perfectly capture the essence of the brand. To further reinforce its glamorous image, Escada dressed celebrities such as Naomi Watts, Katherine Heigl and Katie Holmes amongst many more at international events and premieres. Escada have also been style partner at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for the last two years.
Besides stunning campaign and televised events, one of the most important experiences at Escada is of course the shopping itself. Escada has recently refurbished its boutiques in Harrods and on Sloane Street. And by October this year, its location in Terminal 4 at Heathrow Airport will be relocated and also fully renovated. Fashionistas can enjoy the same luxurious shopping environment as the Spring/Summer 2010 Collection ushers into the boutiques. As a signature touch, bold colours such as azure blue, fern green and hibiscus will continue to make a statement as Bossa Nova music sets the mood for this Brazilian-inspired collection. Expect nothing less than dramatic flair and cool sensibility.
