Salvatore Ferragamo – making light work in its New York flagship

The Italian maison Salvatore Ferragamo has reopened its flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York. Its floor space of about 20,000 square feet makes it the maison’s largest monobrand boutique in the world. It presents women’s collections on the ground floor, iincluding leather accessories, and the jewellery collection, launched by Salvatore Ferragamo in autumn 2011. The floor above is dedicated to men’s collections. The store’s design reflects the brand image: materials include walnut, Alcantara, jute, stone, Venetian plaster and dark oak, with steel detailing.

The store’s lighting is based entirely on LED technology, which was designed to reduce ecological impact. Michele Norsa, CEO of Salvatore Ferragamo, said that the boutique’s refurbishment was part of plans for strategically developing the brand’s retail activities. It currently has 593 monobrand stores throughout the world.
