Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2014 Featured

Preview of the Furniture Fair in Milan that starts in one week

31 March 2014

On April 8, Milan welcomes the world’s leading designers and innovators to ring in the most significant event in the annual design calendar. During this time the Salone Internazionale del Mobile takes centre stage, transforming the sophisticated Northern town known for its top position in the Fashion Week circuit, to the global destination for the very best in furniture and design during what has become known as Milan Design Week.

One mustn’t be fooled into thinking that the Salone is just another trade show. Since opening in 1961, each year has built upon the previous editions and the objects on show continue to reveal the highest quality and most ingenious use of material in every conceivable form. Whether it’s an eccentric but functional new model of lighting from Artemide, or a reissued classic from one of the premium brands such as Vitra, the Salone has something for every discerning taste. And don’t forget to visit SaloneSatellite where new works from the talent under the age of 35 are presented to the industry for the first time.

In addition to the dedicated exhibition space in Rho, a series of over 1,000 coinciding events will be hosted in every imaginable inch of space across the city –transforming even the smallest boutiques and largest warehouses to epicentres for leading designers, dealers and buyers. It’s no surprise that the 2013 edition welcomed half a million visitors and exhibitors, and 2014 will be no different.

Milan Design Week may champion the aesthetics of furniture and the objects we live with but every traveller knows the importance of knowing what, just as much as who and where. LUXOS will be sharing all the highlights of Salone with you, so be sure to check in daily to ensure you aren’t left outside of this premier event.
