On October 29, Italian fashion house Moschino announced that Jeremy Scott will be the next Creative Director of their brand. His debut will be February 2014 with the Fall/Winter 2014-2015 collection during the Milan Fashion Week. Scott will be replacing long-time Creative Director Rossella Jardini, who was with the company in that capacity from 1994 until the present, and has been with the company since 1981. Scott will now be given full licence to re-interpret the identity and essence of Moschino.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Scott learned his trade studying at the Pratt Institute in New York. Upon graduation, he moved to Paris and introduced his signature brand. He has since launched the careers of models and aspiring designers, and collaborated with other notable designers such as Christian Louboutin and Stephen Jones for accessories for his runway shows. He won back-to-back Venus de la Mode Award for Best New Designer. In 2002, Scott returned to the United States, settling in his current home of Los Angeles. His iconic designs have led to collaborations with pop stars such as Rihanna, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Björk, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Gwen Stefani, Rita Ora, M.I.A., Lana Del Rey, ASAP Rocky, Kylie Minogue, and Nicki Minaj, as well as with brands like Adidas, Linda Farrow, Longchamp, Swatch, and Smart.
In collaborating with the Hollywood elite, Jeremy Scott has become a pop icon himself, and his unique fashion sensibility should bring a radical new direction to an iconic brand.
