Marc Jacobs is best known for his creative post at Louis Vuitton and his own eponymous brand, but for the past few years he has taken the fragrance world by storm with his Lola scent and now is poised to do so again with the launch of his new perfume Dot.
Now he also has a new beauty project in the works in the way of colour cosmetics with beauty chain Sephora. When asked about why he's chosen to work on a makeup line, Jacobs voiced his interest in anything that is part of the ritual of getting dressed, “I love the opportunity, wherever there is one, to adorn, to decorate, to scent, to dress. That’s what fashion’s all about. It’s not necessary, it’s something you want — it’s a fancy and a whim.”
There's still some time yet before we see colour cosmetics on the shelf, Jacobs had his first meeting last week. "We currently are working on defining what Marc Jacobs cosmetics will be, what they’ll say, what makes them distinctive. I think that will take some time, but the first meeting was good.” A target launch date has not yet been identified, Jacobs added.
