Founded in 1772, the House of Veuve Clicquot established its reputation with the consistent outstanding quality of its Champagnes. Madame Clicquot started by setting out to solve a simple problem – to offer clear sparkling wines by eliminating the lees that deposited in the bottle. Thinking outside the box, she ingeniously and audaciously invented La Table de Remuage, a simple modification to a table adding sloping holes in which wine bottles could be placed head down. By gently turning the bottle over time, lees were allowed to gather at the bottle neck thus making them easily expelled. Remaining faithful to Madame Clicquot’s motto: “Only one quality, the finest.”, today Veuve Clicquot is recognized as one of the most prestigious champagne Houses, renowned world-wide for the unique quality of its champagnes and its very distinctive “Yellow Label”.
