Jazzycolours Festival
Now in its 12th year, the international Jazzycolours festival takes place in November every year. This year the festival will run until 29th November with 26 concerts at 16 different venues throughout the city. As well as established artists including the Serbian pianist Bojan Z and German trombone player Nils Wogram, the event also welcomes a host of emerging artists to the city. The full concert schedule is available on the Jazzycolours website.

The return of Jazz at Hôtel de la Trémoille

Close to the Champs Elysées, the 19th-centruy Hôtel de la Trémoille, which welcomed world jazz icons 'Duke' Ellington and Louis Armstrong in its 60s heyday, has rekindled its jazz legacy. Every Thursday the hotel welcomes pianist Matthieu Nalleau and singer Vita Schmidt for its Bubbles and Jazz evenings at its cosy Louis2 bar. The performance starts in time for an apéritif at 5.00pm until 8.00pm but the evening can be prolonged with dinner at the Louis2 restaurant, which offers traditional French cuisine and is just around the corner from the bar. Don't miss the Paris Match photograph of 'Duke' Ellington and Louis Armstrong hanging out of the hotel's top floor windows in the hotel's main entrance.

Duc des Lombards jazz club

Although there are several bars and venues that put on jazz performances in the city, the Duc des Lombards jazz club and restaurant tops our list. Talented artists put on performances on most nights in the upscale surrounding of the venue. A small cosy and intimate club with hushed lighting and tables arranged around a small round stage, Duc des Lombards is possibly the best jazz club in Paris. See upcoming concerts on the Duc des Lombards website.

Jazz all year at Banlieues Bleues' La Dynamo

Banlieues Bleues Festival
Now in its 31st year, the month-long Banlieues Blues festival that counted Miles Davis, Nina Simone and Ray Charles among its performers in the late 80s, takes place every spring in Seine-Saint-Denis, on the periphery of the 19th arrondissement. However, the Banlieues Blues is two-fold. As well as the annual festival, jazz concerts take place throughout the year at its concert venue La Dynamo. The performing artists are from all walks of life and from all four corners of the globe, and the jazz is wide-ranging, from experimental currents to jazz mixed with electro-acoustics and traditional Kenyan sounds. For full listings visit the Banlieues Bleues website.

Paris Jazz Festival

Paris Jazz Festival
The festival, which celebrated its 20 years last summer, takes place every weekend from mid-June to mid-July, when two jazz bands grace the stage at the Vincennes Parc Florale. The weekends are sometimes themed according to the style of jazz. For instance there is usually a Latin jazz weekend, as well as one for acoustic jazz, funk and soul and hybrid weekends that celebrate jazz with hip-hop, funk or African undercurrents. The festival is free although there is an entrance fee to the park. The 2015 line-up will be available on the Paris Jazz Festival website.
