Highlights of the calendar include the Jingle Ball on December 7th, and a glamorous New Year’s Eve gala. There are also exclusive seasonal packages for the season, both at the hotel in the form of room upgrades, and in exclusive Christmas shopping opportunities. The hotel has also just hired Dirk Hany as the new Chef de Bar for the upcoming season. Mr. Hany is the 2008 Swiss Barkeeper of the Year, and is an expert in the field of rum. His cocktails are developed in taste and flavour, like a chef would do with his dishes at a restaurant. Mr. Hany’s tastes are also creative and experimental. His cutting-edge cocktail selection includes progressive selections like a combination of gin or vodka and different teas. He will begin performing at the Widder Bar in December. The Widder Hotel is also featuring a unique sculpture. The “Balloon Venus” by American pop artist Jeff Koons is a remarkable pink sculpture. Only 600 were produced and are being made available to collectors for 19.980 CHF. The sculpture contains a secret that can only be revealed to her owners. While the exterior is a study in the Venus of Willendorf, the inside is a foldout champagne cooler. Each sculpture comes with a bottle of Dom Pérignon Rosé 2003. Whatever your tastes during the yuletide season, the Widder Hotel is sure to provide something you’ll like.
