Being one of the three largest cities in the European Union, it comes as no surprise that Madrid is a centre for luxury shopping. The route can be divided into two different areas: The Golden Mile found in the Salamanca District, and The Jorge Juan Area, located in the Recoletos District. Shopping times in the two neighbourhoods typically span from 10:00 to 22:00; perfect for a post-spa/meeting/museum spree.
Shopping in the Salamanca district
The Salamanca district is one of the most upscale neighbourhoods of Madrid city centre. It includes the streets Serrano, Ortega y Gasset, Velázquez and Goya. Many of the high-end international brands are situated in this area, chiefly on the main streets, Ortega y Gasset. There you will find Chanel in its two-storey building, Hermès with its superb handcrafted quality, Tod’s handmade leather goods, iconic women’s wear by Valentino, Jimmy Choo’s sumptuous shoes, Bottega Veneta, and many others. The famous Avenida Serrano also hosts many international luxury brands, including the new Louis Vuitton boutique with a floor space covering more than 2,500 square metres, a Gucci shop with men and women’s collections, Bvlgari jewellery, Montblanc watches and accessories, as well as high-end pret-a-porter including Zadig et Voltaire and Stella McCartney.

You can also explore the smaller streets of the area, including Calle Claudio Coello and Calle Lagasca, where you will find a wide variety of shops including international labels such as Paul and Joe, Maje, and Miu Miu.
