Girls! Make no mistake, guys are crazy about football, while we prefer to shop relax in a spa or enjoy a special dinner. But, as they say, "If you can’t beat them, join them!" Perhaps football isn’t exactly the enemy, but in Madrid, you combine the best of both worlds: a special dinner in a historic sports location.
You can’t visit Madrid without visiting the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, which has witnessed Real’s sporting conquests since 1947. Real Café Bernabéu is an exclusive and spacious restaurant overlooking the football field, perfect for Real supporters, tourists and connoisseurs of fine cuisine. Its 1,200 square metres floor space keep everyone happy.

Located inside the stadium, it is a sophisticated restaurant that serves morning coffee, and later becomes a fine restaurant, and a sumptuous cocktail bar in the evening. Very different from the usual themed restaurant, it avoids soccer branding, opting instead for exclusivity and excellent standards.

The interiors comprise a massive panoramic window, over 80 metres long, providing spectacular views of the stadium. There are several different sections: a spacious café at street level, an intermediate floor used for restaurant service, and another smaller location, closer to the pitch, ideal for a quick bite and drinks after dinner. At the start of the warmer season, the Real Café opens its superb terrace, one of the most original in the city.

Julian Duran is the barman, whose skills in preparing great cocktails become an entertaining performance. The venue attracts a wide range of clientele, including executives and managers from Madrid’s business district after work. They particularly appreciate the newly-opened sushi bar, operating all day, where expert sushiman Ling Jum Xu works in full view of the client, customising every order according to personal taste.
The new menu, created by Leonardo Gomez, is a safe bet: traditional Spanish cuisine, revisited and updated with touches of culinary creativity. The wine list follows the same pattern: sixty labels of Spain’s principal DO wines, stored and served to perfection. Bottles can also be purchased to take away.
