25 de Abril Bridge

Golden Gate Bridge's Portuguese twin connecting Portugal as a whole

Demonstrating strong resemblance with San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, the 25 de Abril Bridge was built by the American Bridge Company that also constructed the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge. Linking Lisbon and the City of Almada with its suspension design, 25 de Abril Bridge was named in memory of the Carnation Revolution that overthrew the authoritarian government of Portugal in 1974. While pedestrians are not allowed on the bridge, this magnificent piece of infrastructure can still be admired along the Belém coastline.
