Torre de Belém

The medieval tower that watches over the Tagus River to the ocean. 

Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage in 1983, Belém Tower is a fortified medieval watchtower that guarded the southern edge of Lisbon. Dedicated to the Age of Discoveries, nowadays Belém Tower is often times regarded as a national symbol for courage and exploration. It is advisable to book tickets in advance to skip ahead of the usual long ticket line on site. Alongside the tower are various outdoor aperitif bars if you want to drink amid the background of the amazing scenery.
