Where business meets pleasure in Istanbul

Our tips for mixing business with pleasure in Istanbul

Perhaps you, like a lot of our readers, are in Istanbul for business. If you’re anything like us, you need to find a place to have a quiet meeting, looking forward to a good drink at the end of the day and maybe getting in a little shopping in between. Read our tips and get on with business.

For bespoke tailoring:

Founded in 2003 by two brothers who believed in the exclusivity of fine tailoring, Milimetric makes customised shirts and suits for Turkey's leading businessmen. The sophisticated craftsmanship of Milimetric’s tailors combined with the use of fine materials guarantees the impeccable quality of their suits and shirts. Fabrics manufactured by Loro Piana, Dormeuil, Thomas Mason and Söktaş are chosen carefully, and garments are designed according to the client's request. Shirts can be delivered to your hotels in two business days, while for suits they need a week if you can make it to two fittings. If you’re happy with the results – and we think you will be – Milimetric’s tailors can fly to your home country for another suit.

For meetings:

LBLe Baron

The secret is out: there is a gentlemen’s club in Zorlu Center inside the Greenwich watch store in Raffles Arcade. Opened last autumn, Le Baron serves as a bar, a restaurant and also a lounge where you can hold your meetings while offering your clients a selection of 60 French wines, 40 whiskeys and cigars. If you happen to be here on a Friday, stay a little longer to catch some jazz tunes and sample some of their signature cocktails. The restaurant with the terrace overlooking outside the mall offers an exquisite trolley service, from where you can taste their delectable Parmesan risotto and the Le Baron steak. Open Monday-Sunday, midday-3am.

For drinks:

The St. Regis Istanbul is home to the first international location of the iconic Spago restaurant, which boasts fantastic views of Istanbul and a stellar menu prepared by Michelin starred chef Wolfgang Puck. DJ Tarık Koray is at the helm on the music front at the bar, where the menu offers both classical and innovative cocktails as well as fine champagne.

For shopping:

Nişantaşı is the place to go if you’re looking for a smart watch. Ulysse Nardin, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Omega, Rolex and Cartier have beautiful boutiques on Altın and Abdi İpekçi Streets, where you can find the latest models, including those launched at this year’s SIHH. A fine selection of Tumi suitcases and other travel accessories are featured inside the Beymen Nişantaşı store on the corner of Abdi İpekçi and Bostan Streets. Refer to our map on page xxx for all the brands in the area.
