There's more to Geneva than chocolate and cheese. In arguably the world's priciest and most cosmopolitan cities there is a huge diversity of restaurants to choose from. Here are some of our favourites.
Auberge de Hermance
Just 15 minutes outside Geneva is a story-book French village and in the centre is the Auberge de Hermance. This is the kind of small, intimate restaurant one dreams of finding; with a welcoming large stone countryside fireplace, excellent wines and outstanding food.

SO Caviar Bar
The new caviar menu at SO bar – an original concept – offers a selection of superior quality Zwyer caviar. This new caviar brand is an exciting departure, because the product comes not from Russia or Iran, but Uruguay, where sturgeons are nourished in crystal clear water. The caviar is refined to the finest oscietra malassol. Other products include beluga naccarii, baerioska classique and Premier cru. The interiors are sumptuous, with beautiful mosaics. Open every day, 5.30 p.m. – 1.00 a.m
LUXOS recommends: Take-away caviar, another interesting idea.
Hotel President Wilson, Quai Wilson, 47, CH 1211, Geneva, tel. +41 (0)22 9066 666, www.hotelpresidentwilson.com
This Thai haute cuisine restaurant has become a firm favourite amongst the people of Geneva. Its décor based on silks and dark timber provides the backdrop for this spicy and succulent cuisine, prepared by chefs who are trained for at least five years in the S&P group's restaurants in Bangkok. The Thai cuisine here is absolutely authentic, with key ingredients despatched twice a week from Thailand and used in combination with the finest local products. Wines are specially selected for pairing with the spicy dishes.

The wine list makes it possible to explore the fascinating world of Swiss labels. There are two dining rooms, Salle des Artistes, and the Carnotzet Cellar, ideal for raclette or fondue with friends.
