Held at the much-praised Dubai Design District, Dubai Design Week, organised by the Art Dubai Group, promises a citywide schedule of curated exhibitions, events and activities from local and international design brands, retailers and galleries, universities and institutions. “Dubai Design Week is a celebration of design throughout the city. So what can visitors expect from this year’s fair? “We will present around 100 high quality international brands from established to emerging, to ensure a visitor experience that is as exciting, innovative and relevant as possible. From lighting and textile to furniture, kitchens and bathrooms, you can discover the latest products and living concepts inspired by the best designers in the industry,” says Rue Kothari, the Fair Director of Downtown Dubai, the events trade fair.
“Iconic brands including Moroso and Rolf Benz will be returning with an even bigger installation, bohemian lighting brands Preciosa and Lasvit will showcase with illuminating new perspectives, while Scandinavian brands like Carl Hansen will provide a clean edge to of growing textile brand Cecelia Settendahl. Large living areas demonstrating lifestyle concepts from the likes of Arclinea and Lema, as well as Hacker and Hulsta will give a glimpse into how we will be living in 2017 and there will also be some world debuts,” continues Rue.
And while Dubai Design Week attracts many international names, it also highlights the region’s local emerging talent, which is also integral to the fair. “Dubai Design week is an important platform to promote local and regional design talent to an international audience,” explains Cyril.

“The American Hardwood Association will present an installation demonstrating the sustainability of wood as a material for design, working with a group of seven local designers,” adds Rue. “We will also present work by two fledging design brands based in the UAE – both to be revealed closer to the fair.” Let the countdown begin.
