It took just 70 days to turn a 3-story building outside The Dubai Mall into a Fortnum & Mason international outlet. In partnership with its local partner Dubai-based Al Khayyat Investments (AKI), the British luxury food store is to open in a purpose-built 9,400 square-foot building, and aims to recreate the look and feel of the iconic UK store.
The Dubai store is located between The Address Hotel in Downtown and Dubai Mall.
It features around 320 additional food items and 154 non-food products, as well as a tea room on the first floor and an ice-cream parlour on the second floor. It is to sell five of the famous Piccadilly store’s key product ranges, which include a vast range of teas, biscuits, hand-made preserves and hampers, honeys, biscuits, confectionery, as well as oils and body washes. There will be about 60 different varieties of tea, along with 40 different preserves. Special tasting tables will be set up to allow people to try out some of the varieties of tea and jam on sale.
The retailer will also sell scented candles, which recalls the brand’s roots: established by a royal footman named William Fortnum, who started the company in 1707 to resell candle wax from St James’ Palace.
