Barcelona's Unmissable Spots

Pause in your pursuits and enjoy these unique experiences that Barcelona offers.

The Magic Fountain

A free weekly music and light spectacle at the gateway to Montjuïc, just off Plaza España. Who doesn’t want to hear the roar of ‘Barcelona’ sung by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé set to sparkling coloured water in the very same city? From November to March, Fridays and Saturdays 7pm - 8.30pm, just below iconic art gallery The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, which is worth a peek too. Why not have a late lunch beforehand at the charming restaurant in the depths of Montjuïc, La Font Del Gat ( then wend your way down by foot (leave 30 minutes) or taxi (5-10 minutes) for the evening’s ‘light’ (in both senses) entertainment?

La Boqueria Market

What you can’t buy at this polished market, mid-Rambla, isn’t worth sampling. The exotic fruit is the greatest pull, and nuts and dried fruit abound – pick some up as a healthy snack. Cross over to the quaint little square Plaça del Pi in conjunction with your visit, just the other side of the Rambla to the market to find an excellent spot for morning or afternoon coffee. The market is open 8am-8.30pm, closed Sundays.

Why not go for a float? Barcelona’s flotarium is home to so-called zero gravity pods. Each tank is situated in a private cabin which has its own showering and changing facilities as well as everything you will need: ear plugs, towels, shampoo, conditioner and hair dryers. Each session lasts for one hour. The benefits are sharpened concentration, reduction of muscular tension, help with insomnia, anxiety and back pain.
