If you want to take a break from hours of sightseeing and photo snapping, head out for a little retail therapy on Ermou Street. Connecting different parts of Athens, this short, half-kilometer street is home to great shopping with a variety of international and local brands, restaurants, and areas to relax. This shopping area is located near the ever-populated Syntagma Square.
The Ermou shopping area is broken down into three main sections: the east, the middle, and the west. The pedestrian friendly zones are the east and western parts, which also happen to be the most well-known and busiest districts. Surprisingly, when people think of the most expensive shopping streets in Europe you think of cities like Paris, London and Milan. However, Ermou Street is among the top five, and ranks as the tenth most expensive retail therapy destination in the world.
