The Perfect Autumn in Switzerland Featured

Captivating skies and colourful mountains will have you turning your short stay longer in an instant.

When we think of Switzerland, it’s natural to think of snow-covered mountains and skiing. Contrary to this typical illusion, Switzerland is an incredible destination in the fall, as it becomes a spectacle of nature with autumnal forests, as well as things to do aside from the nature. Another misconception of Switzerland may be that all the country has to offer is its nature-oriented activities. Though Switzerland boasts some of the most beautiful mountains in the world, there is more to do than hiking. So... let’s start with wine.

Sion & Wine Tour

Many wine tours are offered throughout Switzerland, and autumn is the perfect time to transition into the flavors of an oaky chardonnay after enjoying rosé all summer. The Sion & Wine Tour takes you through 7,000 years of history in old town Sion, located in southern Switzerland. Set at a great pace, this tour gives you the opportunity to explore the Roman thermal baths, gastronomy in Valais, and the grapes that grew in the region’s vineyards, all while enjoying 5 different types of wine throughout the tour (accompanied by a delicious platter of Valais dried meat and cheese, of course). This tour can be booked for single travellers, couples, or groups, so it is perfect for any trip.

Private Hot Air Balloon Flight

Enjoy an exciting ride exploring the breathtaking views of the Alpine mountains and fall foliage with a hot air balloon ride. Offered throughout Switzerland, hot air balloon flights are very popular for getting the best views of the beautiful nature. Whether it’s a ride over Interlaken or a sunrise flight over Zurich, these trips can be found almost anywhere in the country, so be sure to book one during your stay.

Trift Bridge

For those who dare, walking the Trift Bridge is an adventure. Suspended over the Tristee lake, this pedestrian-only bridge was suspended 100 metres high after the Trift Hut of the Swiss Alpine Club could no longer be reached from the glacier tongue. Reaching the bridge requires taking a cable car in Meiringen and a gondola, followed by a difficult 1.5-2 hour uphill hike that leads to the bridge. The captivating views of the lake and Swiss Alps are well-worth the hike once you’ve reached the bridge!
