Every year, end of January – beginning of February St. Moritz becomes the place to be for gourmet fans from all over the world. During one week guests come together to enjoy the culinary highlights of the years host country. 2016 has been marked by nine of the worlds best Japanese master chefs coming from USA, France, Germany, Spain and Japan to create not only a signature dish but also each one a 5 course meal in its host hotel, transforming an excellent dinner in a real culinary experience. What could be more divine than enjoying an excellent diner surrounded by a beautiful winter wonderland and having the impression to travel the world.
St. Moritz Gourmet Festival Cheese and Wine
St. Moritz known internationally as being the destination on ‘top of the world’ will once again from 30th of January till 3rd of February 2017 seduce through its variety and exclusive culinary program with this years’ host country: USA – Discover THE Best from the West’.
From Monday till Friday everybody will find something to taste, to discover, to discuss or simply to share in and around St. Moritz in the different top partner hotels and other locations in the city and on the top of the mountains.
It all starts on Monday evening with the Grand Opening Julius Bär Gala at Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains where the ten master chefs come together and create a selection of delicacies presented under this years motto: Las Vegas! The guests can go from one ‘gourmet isles’ to another and get a first impression of the amazing variety this week will offer. Every chef has its own style and will seduce not only through the combination of ingredients and colours but also through its personal touch. Some food aficionados come back every year as nowhere else you have this unique opportunity to discover so many different culinary highlights at the same time. The ambiance is always very elegant and joyful as of course the combination of gourmet food with a nice glass of champagne brings happiness and laughter. This Grand Opening is also very much appreciated by the master chefs themselves as they have the opportunity to meet the guests and to get direct feedback or share their hidden secrets.
From Tuesday to Friday, the guests can choose amongst a large program.
St. Mortiz Gourmet Festival Chocolate Cult
Come and join some of the organised ‘gourmet dinners’ in the evening. During the day and after dinner a lot of culinary experiences are also offered in spectacular locations such as on top of the mountain restaurant Mathis Food Affairs. With its big sunny terrace Mathis Food Affair ‘US Beef Blizzard on Corviglia’ is the ideal location for a panoramic view combined with the best US beef specialities you can imagine!
Make sure not to miss the legendary chocolate tasting ‘Chocolate Cult’ by Swiss family owned chocolatier Sprüngli. Spend the afternoon at the Badrutt’s Palace Hotel and enjoy the chocolate buffet with all it has to offer. From traditional pastry and praline you will also find a chocolate fountain and same chocolates you might not even know they exist.

For those who always wanted to see behind the scenes join the legendary ‘Illustrious kitchen whispering’ where guests and master chefs mix around food. Join the ‘Cheese and Wine celebration’ and discover some of the finest and rarest cheeses in the world served with the perfect glass of wine.

For those who love Champagne don’t miss: ‘Fascination Champagne’. At the beautiful Suvretta House in partnership with family run and traditional house Laurent-Perrier, you will be able to enjoy exclusive cuvées. Star-crowned guest chef Lee Wolen will spoil you with a special menu while explanations about the different Champagnes will be given to you.
For those who can’t decide between guest chef James Kent at the Carlton Hotel, Dean Fearing at the Hotel Giardino Mountain or the only master lady chef Melissa Kelly cooking at the beautiful Nira Alpina no problem! Join the Great ‘BMW Gourmet Final at the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz’ on Friday evening and enjoy the best of each of them.
