Located in the exclusive 16th district in the heart of Paris, close to the Champs-Elysées and the Eiffel Tower, the Saint James Paris is a beautiful 100-year-old château set within the walls of a garden. In previous lives the château has been an intellectual bootcamp for the budding French elite and also the site of the first ever hot-air balloon airfield. In its latest enterprise as a colourful, cultured, country estate-style hotel, it still has high aspirations. The Saint James Paris opened in 2011, revealing a prestige hotel in a park in the heart of Paris. It is like a private club, part chateau, part family townhouse, with a blend of grandeur and intimacy, of classicism and extravagance.
With interiors designed by Bambi Sloan, the Saint James Paris blends elegance with comfort and homeliness. Each of the 48 rooms are individually decorated like a theatre set, with pieces hunted down during trips to Paris flea markets or elsewhere; even the light switches are customised.
The hotel offers breakfast in bed, but guests can also enjoy their petit-dejeuner in the stylish library-bar, which, with over 12,000 books, was once the library of the legendary Thiers Foundation. At the guests' disposal are also a fine and gastronomic restaurant with 1 Michelin star, a garden terrace, a spa with Guerlain treatments as well as an extensive fitness room.
