A couple of years ago, Harry Winston used feathers in its Premier Feathers watches. In 2015, the brand presented Premier Precious Butterfly, created using the iridescent powder found on butterfly wings, using four different species for the four models in the range. The technique took three years to perfect. Each piece is unique, like the butterfly from which the powder came, and the motif is framed by a white or rose gold bezel set with 57 brilliant-cut diamonds. The watches are mounted on satin straps, brown, burgundy or beige. The watch is powered by a mechanical automatic movement, calibre HW2008, visible through the sapphire caseback. It is an expression of two of the latest trends in watches: the desire for an object that is entirely personal, different from anything else; and renewed interest in mechanical watches. Price of the order of €36,000. www.harrywinston.com
