What better place for a chronograph watch than at the centre of a steering wheel? This watch, purchased by Marc A. Hayek, CEO of Breguet, for the company’s historical collection, is one of a series of nine watches that the brand made for Bugatti’s Royale cars. The watch has a tachymeter scale that enables speed over a measured distance to be calculated. It also has an interesting minutes counter with a window at 6 o’clock. The long stem at 6 o’clock makes winding easy: the mechanical movement provides a power reserve of eight days.

The watch is Breguet N° 2023, and it was purchased at the Artcurial Rétromobile Exhibition on Saturday 6 February 2016. The clarity of the cream-coloured dial, and the precision of its seconds chapter ring with one-fifth second divisions, makes it a very functional timepiece as well as a precision instrument.
